THE CONCERTS
Now in our seventh year, Solatido has created some fine memories and concert opportunities for our participants and the local community. Each year, the performing songwriter works with the group of Solatido songwriters and then gives a full concert to the residents on the mountain and the local neighbors who live around Wildacres Retreat. We began in 2004 with special guest Cosy Sheridan all the way from Moab, Utah (bottom photo). In 2005, the energetic Pierce Pettis of Alabama came to the mountaintop for an unforgettable performance (second photo from bottom). In 2006, the duo of Stacey Earl and Mark Stuart joined us for a rollicking evening. In 2007, Kate Campbell, brought the gospel of folk music to us. In 2008, Carrie Newcomer--our longtime friend and collaborator--gave a spirit-filled concert that lifted us off the mountain. And in 2010, none other than rock and roll goddess and good ol' girl Marshall Chapman favored us with her irreverent banter and blessed beat (Top photo is Marshall alongside Kentucky singer, songwriter, and publisher Kate Larken).
The Solatido workshop participants also have a chance to perform for the creative writers who are in residence for their own workshops during the week on the mountain--an appreciative audience. We also gather each night for jamming around the fireplace.
Come join the fun! The Solatido group meets in the studio and shares songs every morning at Wildacres
